Traffic police gives one-month deadline to vehicles on ‘open letter’ | Pakistan

KARACHI: Traffic police gave a one-month deadline on Monday to the vehicles on the roads of Karachi operating on ‘open transfer letters’, out of which 10 days have already passed.

DIG Traffic Imran Yaqub Minhas said that there are numerous vehicles in the city operating and being sold on ‘open letter’.

If such cars are used in any incident then not the immediate owner but the person on whose name the vehicle is registered gets identified. He said that it is a crime to use an vehicle on the basis of the letter under Motor Vehicle Act.

The DIG Traffic said if such people don’t register their vehicles within the said date then action would be taken against them under the MVA 1965 clause 32.

Such vehicles will also be confiscated and a heavy fine will be imposed and the car will be returned through court to the person on whose name it is registered, he added.
