Shinwari faces injury scare; Mohammad Amir likely replacement | Sports

Usman Shinwari in action against Sri Lanka

LAHORE: Injury doubts loom over young bowling sensation Usman Khan Shinwari ahead of the historic T20 match against Sri Lanka today.

Shinwari is suffering from a side strain which has made his inclusion in today’s playing XI doubtful, sources close to the matter said.

Fellow pacer Mohammad Amir, who has recovered from a shin injury he picked during the Test series against Sri Lanka, is likely to fill in for Shinwari.

Other changes are also expected to be made to the Pakistan side for the third and final T20 game. Either of the openers, Ahmed Shehzad or Fakhar Zaman, may be dropped to make way for new talent. Umar Amin, who is in the T20 squad but yet to play, is likely to be included in the final XI.

Bowling all-rounder Amir Yamin is expected to replace Imad Wasim today.

Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq had hinted during a press talk over the weekend that new talent would be given a chance in Sunday’s match.

The T20 will start at 6:00pm (PST); the start time has been brought forward by an hour due to prevailing weather and dew conditions in Lahore.
