Surprised to see attacker of state institutions forgiven, says information minister
ISLAMABAD: Expressing surprise at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s apology to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) today, State Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Thursday she is surprised to see someone who attacked Parliament in front of the entire nation being forgiven today.
Talking to the media, the minister said she is amazed that someone who lambasted state institutions in the middle of D-Chowk [Islamabad’s Red Zone] has been forgiven so easily.
Aurangzeb said it is amazing that someone who undermined institutions, called them mafias and abused them was instead trying to make them stronger.
Earlier today, the ECP accepted the PTI chief’s apology over his contemptuous remarks against the commission and concluded the contempt proceedings against him.
Later, addressing the media, Imran said he did not mean to attack the ECP but was instead trying to make it a stronger institution.
