The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)—the ruling party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province—has gained a decisive lead over its opponents in by-election on the key NA-4 (Peshawar-IV) seat.
Vote counting is underway for Peshawar’s NA-4 by-election after polling came to an end at 5PM on Thursday.
After unofficial and unverified results from 265 of 269 polling stations, PTI was leading with 44,799 votes. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was trailing with 24,032 votes, while the Awami National Party (ANP) had received 24,108 votes, according to unofficial results at the time of filing of this report.
Leaders of the PTI had already declared victory in messages posted on social media, with chairperson Imran Khan calling it “a direct vote of confidence on performance of KP’s PTI govt”.
