At least 37 detained for questioning in Lahore following joint combing operation | Pakistan

LAHORE: At least 37 people suspected of being involved in criminal activities were taken into custody Monday night during a joint search operation carried out by police and Rangers in the city’s Naulakha ‘Landa’ Bazaar, authorities said.

The law enforcement agencies checked the detainees’ documents via Android fingerprint biometric verification system, explaining that they have now been held for further questioning.

Police and Rangers also conducted a door-to-door search in the Bazaar’s hotels, shops, and nearby residential area, culminating in verification of 620 people in total.

One case, consequent to the search, was registered for violation of the Temporary Residents Act, security officials added.
