KARACHI: A school van crashed into an water tanker early on Thursday near Society graveyard on Tariq road.
A water tanker was parked outside a bank, when a school van rammed into it at full speed.
Eight people have been wounded in the accident. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Following the crash, petrol started to leak from the van, which was said to have a tank full with fuel.
The flowing petrol became a cause of concern and citizens, who rushed to the spot, took care of the situation in order to save others from a huge disaster.
In June this year, Pakistan witnessed one of the worst road tragedies when an overturned oil tanker caught fire in Bahawalpur’s Ahmedpur East town.
At least 152 people were burnt to death and scores injured in the accident.
Pakistan has an appalling record of fatal traffic accidents due to poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
At least 62 people including women and children were killed in Karachi in 2015 when their bus collided with an oil tanker, starting a fierce blaze that left victims burnt beyond recognition.
